Here are the top questions we get from new patients answered to help you be prepared for your first appointment.

At React, we use a whole-body approach to physical therapy incorporating the Reavy Method©, created by the company’s founder, David Reavy. We accept all PPO insurance, although we are only in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield. We are also in-network with Medicare and take Workers’ Compensation cases, and Motor Vehicle Accident Cases. Don’t worry if you are uncertain about your coverage, we verify all of our patient’s insurance benefits for our services.

Direct Access legislation was passed into law in IL in 2018 allowing patients to seek physical therapy treatment from a licensed physical therapist without having a physician referral or script.*

Transparent communication with our patients’ healthcare providers remains an integrated approach to total care and Direct Access does require we notify your primary health care professional. If your physical therapist determines your condition to be beyond the scope of practice of a physical therapist during your initial evaluation we can refer you to an appropriate health care professional.
Even with the new law, limitations do apply to some healthcare policies, including Medicare, to find out specifics on your plan contact your nearest React PT location.

Dress comfortably. Your physical therapy session will involve both manual (hands on) therapy and exercises, so wear clothing that will allow you to move around.

In order to protect our patient’s identity, we require all patients to present a photo ID in addition to your insurance card. Please present these to our front desk coordinators on your first appointment.

If you have Medicare insurance you will be required to bring a referral from your doctor prior to treatment.

Please try to arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment to allow yourself time for new patient paperwork. If you’d like to fill this out in advance, patient forms can be downloaded on the Patient Portal. If you are unable to download and print the forms, please let us know. We are happy to send you a copy prior to your appointment.

As a courtesy to our patients, we verify health insurance and go over the details with you before you start treatment. We do our best to give you the best idea of your coverage, but you should know insurance quotes are not a guarantee of coverage. We strongly recommend you also confirm your physical therapy benefits with your insurance company before coming in for treatment.

Your first visit with us is what we call an initial evaluation. During your initial evaluation, your physical therapist will assess your current condition and will create a treatment plan just for you based on your needs. Since one of the major tenets of the React Method is dynamic assessment, we will continually adjust your treatments as you progress.

Physical therapy sessions take place in an open room, though we can accommodate if you prefer for the manual therapy portion of your session to occur privately. Be sure to let our front desk know if you prefer a private room for your therapy.

All of our locations offer either a locker room or separate room to change in.

We currently have four locations in the Chicagoland area, with a range of early morning to evening appointments to serve your physical therapy needs. In Chicago, you can find our clinics in the following neighborhoods: Lakeshore East (near Randolph/Michigan), and Lincoln Park. You can also find us in the North Shore in Wilmette and Deerfield.

Parking availability varies from location to location. Please see below for details on parking for each location.

Lakeshore East:
There is a large indoor parking garage located in Mariano’s. Two-hour parking is free when validated at Mariano’s with any purchase.

Lincoln Park:
There is street parking along with metered street parking along Dayton St and surrounding streets.

Deerfield:
Yes, there is a parking lot available.

Wilmette:
Yes, there is a parking lot available.

We recommend all patients schedule out based on the recommendation of their physician and physical therapist. Our schedule fills up quickly, so if you are able to schedule at least a week in advance we recommend doing so.

You can book your appointments online 24/7.

Yes, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Patients who cancel less than 24-hours in advance will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. To cancel or reschedule an appointment, you may call any of our locations.

The cost of your physical therapy depends on your insurance coverage and your treatment for that visit. After every visit, your therapist sends your daily charges to our billing department based on your treatment that day. These charges are then submitted to your insurance company. Once we get a determination from your insurance company, React will send you an invoice. Still have questions? Our Billing Department is here to help. Appointment lengths can vary based on your diagnosis. On average, appointments last around an hour.
