Smoking and Musculoskeletal Healing

Did you know that smoking not only affects your lungs and cardiovascular system but your musculoskeletal system, too? 🚭
Smoking has been shown to hinder healing, whether that’s post-op, recovering from an injury, or even cuts and wounds. Recovery time can be drastically increased with chronic smoking. There may also be an increased risk for complications such as infection or non-healing tissue, which may require further treatment.
To give your body the best chance at rehab, staying away from smoking or working towards quitting this habit will help your road to recovery.
