Mindfulness

Mindfulness

We live in such a hectic world and it seems there is more bad news than good news coming out every day. We can lose touch with our bodies by being overly absorbed in negative thoughts or about the uncertainty of the future. This can manifest physically also as pain. Being mindful can help to reduce anxieties and help deal with stress.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly concerned or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

Benefits of being mindful:

Reduce stress, reduce anxiety, improve physical well being, improve physical and mental performance, increase self-awareness.

How to do it:

There is no special skill to learn to be mindful. Everyone can do it and you only need to invest a few minutes.

Here is one way to practice mindfulness:

Just take a few minutes each day to get into a comfortable position and try to “turn off” your brain. Instead of thinking about what’s happening around you or what tasks you have to get done, just focus on your breathing with your eyes closed.
To be mindful doesn’t take equipment and can be done almost anywhere. It is a great tool to help reduce stress and anxiety and to improve overall well being both physically and emotionally.
